cost share items are started. Cost share is based on availability of
water quality funds.

Automatic
Rain Gauge Shut Off
The District will cost share 65% on the purchase of an Automatic Rain
Gauge Shut Off. Maximum allowed cost share is $135 per shut off and
maximum of $675 per cooperator per year.
Automatic
Drip Oiler
The District will cost share 65% on the purchase of an Automatic Drip
Oiler. Maximum allowed cost share is $130 per oiler and maximum of
$650 per cooperator per year.
Domestic Well
The Lower Niobrara NRD will cost share 65% to well owners whose water
tests greater that 10 ppm for nitrate. Maximum cost share levels are
$800 for a new well, $500 on a new pipeline or $800 on an acceptable
treatment system.
Nitrogen Management
The District will cost share 75% of actual costs not to exceed $1.50
per acre. Maximum cost share is $200 per cooperator per year. Soil
samples to 3 feet are preferred but 2 feet is acceptable. Collect
one composite sample per 40 acres, combine 10-15 individual samples
for 0-8" composite, 6-8 individual samples for 8-24" and
24-36" samples. An irrigation water sample is also required.
Cooperators may conduct their own sampling and arrange for professional
analysis.
Livestock Manure
Analysis
The District will cost share 65% of shipping and analysis of livestock
manure. Maximum cost share is $200 per cooperator per year. Livestock
waste must be applied to land used for crop or grass production within
the LNNRD. Analysis must include ammonium-nitrogen, organic-nitrogen,
and total phosphorus.

Well Abandonment
The Lower Niobrara will cost share 65% of materials and labor to abandon
a well. Maximum cost share is $500 per well and $1500 per cooperator
per year. Maximum cost share is based on well dimensions as shown
in chart below. A licensed well driller must seal the well.
